The Jeseníky mountains are among the least explored ranges in the Czech Republic — and that is their greatest advantage. Whether you come for sport, culture or simply to spend time with friends, from Přemyslovské stráně everything is close by. There is a reason to visit in summer and in winter alike.


Hiking trails

Kouty nad Desnou via the blue trail — easy and leisurely

Near the cottages a blue hiking trail begins, leading through the forest to Kouty nad Desnou. About 4 km — ideal for a warm-up walk or a leisurely stroll with children.

Tři kameny — easy, with a view

The trail starts from Přemyslovské sedlo (5 minutes by car). Along a paved forest road beside a stream, you reach a crossroads after 1.5 km, where views of Králický Sněžník, Praděd and Dlouhé stráně open up. The final scramble up to the rocks can be a little thrill for children. Total approx. 5 km, elevation gain 165 m.

Červenohorské sedlo – Vřesová studánka — popular hike with a view

Červenohorské sedlo is 15 minutes by car. An easy trail with panoramic views of the main Jeseníky ridge. The route can be extended all the way to the Šerák mountain hut for a full-day trip.

Červenohorské sedlo – Švýcárna – Praděd — a more demanding all-day hike

Červenohorské sedlo is 15 minutes by car. From there the red trail follows the ridge via Klínovec and Slatě to Švýcárna (approx. 6 km) — the oldest mountain hut in the Jeseníky at 1,310 m, renowned for excellent food. The route continues another 2.5 km to Praděd (1,491 m), the highest peak in the Jeseníky. The full round trip is approx. 21 km.

Dlouhé Stráně and the power plant — a full-day tip

Kouty ski resort is 5 minutes by car. From there a six-seat gondola takes you up to Medvědí hora (1,095 m) — at the upper station there is a lookout tower with panoramic views of the Jeseníky. From there you continue on foot 4.5 km to the upper reservoir of the Dlouhé Stráně pumped-storage power plant — one of the Seven Wonders of the Czech Republic. The whole reservoir can be walked around on a 2.5 km circuit. Tours inside the power plant are available year-round; advance booking required at dlouhe-strane.cz.

Červenohorské sedlo is reachable by car (paid car park directly at the ski resort, capacity may be limited in season) or by the Skibus Jeseníky from Kouty nad Desnou or Jeseník.

Cycling

Bikepark Kouty — largest bike park in Moravia, 5 minutes by car

Four trails of varying difficulty (blue to black) with 500 m of elevation, a six-seat gondola and rental of bikes and scooters directly in the resort. The blue Uhlířská track is suitable for less experienced riders; the black Koutíkův sen is one of the toughest in Moravia. Bonus: 17 km of the longest scooter descent in the Czech Republic, from the upper reservoir all the way to the Kouty resort. Current prices and opening hours at kouty.cz.

Dlouhé Stráně — road cycling challenge

A classic road route from Kouty nad Desnou to the upper reservoir of the power plant — approx. 28 km with 780 m of elevation. One of the most demanding cycling routes in the Jeseníky. At the upper reservoir you can ride a 2.5 km loop with views of the entire Jeseníky range.

MTB around Mravenečník

The area around the cottages offers a dense network of forest cycling tracks of varying difficulty — from peaceful forest roads to technical mountain trails. A good base for planning routes is kouty.cz or mapy.cz.

Suitable for road and trekking bikes. From Červenohorské sedlo (15 minutes by car) a ridge route leads with views of Praděd and the surrounding massifs.

Skiing

Ski resort Přemyslov — closest, approx. 5 minutes by car

Four runs with a four-seat chairlift, snow park, ski school, equipment rental and restaurant directly in the resort.

Ski resort Kareš — ideal for families with children, approx. 5 minutes by car

A calm family resort with a pleasant pub right at the foot of the slope. The best choice for a child's first skiing experience — and the only one in the area with evening skiing every day from 18:00–21:00.

The longest ski run in Moravia, six-seat gondola, evening skiing 18:00–21:00. The best choice in the area for more advanced skiers.

A large resort with runs of all difficulty levels on both the south and north slopes. A good base for a full day of skiing.

Cross-country skiing

Červenohorské sedlo (15 minutes by car) is the starting point for the best cross-country skiing trails in the area — snow lasts the longest here and the season typically runs from December to April. The trails spread out on both sides of the ridge, with most machine-groomed. Current trail conditions at jdemenabezky.cz or jeseniky.cz.

Šindelná loop

An easy loop of approx. 4.5 km right around the mountain pass, suitable for children too.

Pekárka loop

A pleasant route from the pass — a good choice for a first time on cross-country tracks. Approx. 5 km.

Červená hora

Low difficulty, approx. 8.5 km. A route around Vřesová studánka to Červená hora with views across the whole Jeseníky range.

Švýcárna – Praděd

Moderate difficulty, approx. 12–14 km. The highest groomed cross-country route in the Czech Republic; refreshments at Švýcárna, ascent to Praděd for the more ambitious.

Šerák

A more demanding ridge route. From the pass around Vřesová studánka and Keprník to Šerák — a full-day trip along the ridge.

Relax Centre Gól — approx. 1 km

A multi-purpose sports centre within walking distance of the resort. Offers bowling, squash, tennis and table tennis — the ideal choice for an afternoon when the weather does not favour trips, or as a fun addition to the stay for the whole group.

Klein family tomb — Loučná nad Desnou

A monumental neo-Gothic tomb of the Klein industrial family, who in the 19th century fundamentally shaped the economic development of the entire region — they owned ironworks in Sobotín, glassworks and other enterprises. The tomb stands in Loučná nad Desnou and is a fascinating reminder of the industrial past of the Jeseník region.

Velké Losiny handmade paper mill — approx. 15 minutes by car

The oldest still-functioning handmade paper mill in Europe has been producing paper continuously since the 16th century. Tours available year-round with the option to try making handmade paper on-site — a great experience for children and adults alike. More at papirna.eu.

Wooden church of St Michael the Archangel — Maršíkov, approx. 15 minutes by car

The oldest folk wooden structure in northern Moravia, dating from 1609 — a log-built church with its original preserved interior, coffered ceiling and rare organ. It has a unique atmosphere you will rarely find elsewhere. Accessible on request from the caretaker.

Rapotín glassworks museum — Rapotín, approx. 10 minutes by car

The museum traces the history of the region's renowned glassmaking tradition. In the creative workshop you can grind your own glass and take it home. Open May–September; outside season by telephone appointment.

Velké Losiny château — approx. 15 minutes by car

A Renaissance château of the Lords of Žerotín with a beautiful park. Guided tours available; famous for the witch trials at the end of the 17th century.

Sobotín château — approx. 20 minutes by car

A romantic 19th-century château converted from the former Klein family armoury. Today a luxury resort — even without staying it is worth a visit for the atmosphere of the château park.

Dolní Morava — a full-day trip for the whole family

Local options are more limited — the nearest shop is Potraviny CBA in Loučná nad Desnou, a few minutes by car. For a larger shop, drive to Šumperk (approx. 20 minutes).
